Problem COVID-19 can live on public surfaces. There is not always easy access to hand sanitizer when on the go, causing people to go without disinfecting their hands promptly in public areas, and then ingesting the germs/viruses or spreading them more.
Goal Create an Accessory for Living that can help sanitize your hands on-the-go, making it easier to remember to sanitize, as well as more accessible, quick, and convenient.
proposed solution A device that can be worn on the wrists that automatically dispenses hand sanitizer through a simple hand motion, in the right amount and right when you need it. It should also be sleek and pleasing to wear, like jewelry. The bangle itself will be the dispenser of the hand sanitizing liquid, filled in an inner tube inside.
modeling Process Because it is jewelry worn on the wrist, the smoother the overall form, the more comfortable it would feel. So, after creating the basic model from lofted curves, I chamfered 2 edges, and filleted the rest. I adjusted the shape of the overall bangle to fit around the wrist, leaving just enough breathing room in between the wrist and the bangle.
Color/material/finish Considerations I wanted to keep this product fairly simple so that it can complement everyday outfits. The product should be discreet, yet also comfortable and pleasing to wear, water-proof, and durable. This is why I chose a strong plastic material for both the inner tube and the outer tube. The outer tube is a translucent but dark shade of purple, and the inner tube is a translucent blue shade. This allows the user to be able to tell if the inner tube is running low on hand sanitizer, signaling to the user when it needs to be replaced.
